About Our Research

The faculty affiliated with the Center for Women, Politics and Policy at Portland State University engage in all manner of research related to women's involvement in political action, policy development, and political action. Portland State faculty overseeing research at the Center include Dr. Kim Williams, Dr. Melody Ellis Valdini, Dr. Lindsey Binnstead, and Dr. Rebecca Hannagan in the Division of Political Science at the Hatfield School of Government in the College of Urban & Public Affairs.

The Center's scholarship will expand our understanding of women's roles in the worlds of politics and policy and the barriers they face to further inclusion into the classroom. Ultimately, our research and teaching, combined with service programs, will develop the next generation of women leaders who will serve the city, state, region and nation.
